Any recommendations on the best flea prevention and kitty litter products?

I am getting a new (adult) cat and am trying to figure out what the most affordable and effective flea prevention and kitty litter products are. I'm college student so I don't have a lot to spend. Any other advice on cat supplies would be appreciated.

Any recommendations on the best flea prevention and kitty litter products?
Advantage for fleas, but sorry it isn't cheap.

Feed a good name brand dry cat food. The cheaper ones are full of fillers.

Any clumping litter. I use Arm %26amp; Hammer

Toys can be rolled up pieces of paper, the caps off cans. Mine likes playing in a brown paper grocery bag. Just fold the top back about an inch so it stays open.
Reply:vet n outside
Reply:I've been happy with PetSmart's brand litter EquisiCat. Regarding flea prevention, I've been happy with Advantage.
Reply:Advantage is the best for fleas...you can get it from a vet. My cat like Fresh Step litter but you may have to try a few to get one your cat will like (they are very picky) I recommend the clumping kind as its easier to clean up and less odor problem. If you're on a budget...you can save money by giving the cat a box to sleep in...mine prefers this to the 3 beds I bought! Also instead of buying cat toys...give your cat a PAPER bag (they love to jump in and hide, etc), a piece of paper scrunched up in a ball (they bat it around and chase it), a lid off of an aerosol can (big enough not to choke on)...dry food and fresh water at all times and a can of cat food once every day or two for a treat. Most important of all...lots of love and attention
Reply:well, I have found the best flea protection is to keep your cats inside, my cats are indoor cats and have NEVER had fleas! as far as kitty litter, arm and hammer super scoop is the best!
