Accused for employee theft by loss prevention manager?

I am being accused of theft, as well as 8 other people. I was interrogated by a loss prevention manager who said that they have cameras everywhere and that they have my bank statements. After some small talk that he did, he than questioned me asking me when the last time I stole, demagnetized something, or helped someone steal. I am assuming that people are saying my name, I spoke to a lawyer and he said that if I was called again to not give any statments because I would open my self up for more questioning. I think that these people are trying to take weight of their backs and spread it out on random people. I have been suspended now, and I do not care much for the job, but I am worried of what will happen. On camera it would only show that i have done nothing... so I would be glad. But I am worried that if these people (co-employees) are trying to frame me, if their word could be enough *proof* to get me a criminal record. I am pretty nervous and very confused.

Sounds to me that the LP Manager was fishing for information and you bought into his line. If they have "bank account" records as he claimed it would have to be done by the police. If the police did obtain your bank records then they, and not the LP guy would be talking to you. Think about it. Don't say another word to the LP Manager. Refer anyone to your attorney. Good luck.
Reply:I'm not sure what your question is. You have a lawyer, direct all your questions to him. He is the most qualified to answer them.
Reply:Talk to your lawyer again. If they fire you for something you didn't do, you can sue them for defamation of character, wrongful termination and I'm sure something else. By the way, your lawyer is right, don't volunteer anything, people have a way of twisting around what you say and it isn't good.
Reply:Mach, for starters, how would they get your bank statements? You need to do some digging. Who do you know that might provide that information? A roommate? The bank won't give just anyone your private information unless the bank has a subpoena. Are you confident you're not on camera somewhere? Something suspicious to them that is innocent? I would think about turning the tables on them. This is called slander. Why would you worry about co-employees word? What did they witness? Are they trying to protect themselves. Usually the truth will always come out in the court of law. Have they charged you with anything? If your guilty then you deserve what you get, it you're not, think about fighting back.
