What can PREVENT a hangover even after overindulging. Note. I´m seeking a guaranteed prevention not a remedy.

Have you heard of eating prickly pears or drinking its juice as a hangover prevention, if so can you explain that as a guaranteed prevention, and when to consume that product.

What can PREVENT a hangover even after overindulging. Note. I´m seeking a guaranteed prevention not a remedy.
Well, as I'm sure you know, there is no such thing as a guarantee in health care, every"body" reacts differently to everything, while result might be similar, they are never exactly the same. That being said, what the main cause of hangover is is dehydration caused by the alcohol. So alternating a glass of water then a drink and so on will help prevent that. Also taking a couple of Milk Thistle Seed capsules when you get home will help as well. Milk Thistle works directly on the liver, helping to tone it %26amp; help it do its job in filtering poisons from our body. Since alcohol is metabolized through the liver, Milk Thistle will move it along nicely. I've never heard of prickly pears as a hangover preventor, but they taste lovely so I'd say go for it, certainly wouldn't hurt anything! Good luck!
Reply:No way to prevent a hangover if overindulging.
Reply:the best way to prevent hangovers is stop drinking !

what's the point anyhow ? self-destruction ? making life shorter ?
Reply:The best prevention I know of is also the cheapest. Learn to nurse your drinks and cut down on the quantity you consume. If you abuse your body, you pay the price, its as simple as that.
Reply:You can't prevent a hangover. It is caused by the dehydration in the brain, and the best remedy I have tried was sipping water or pedialyte before bed to re-hydrate your body. Drink slowly, though, because drinking it too fast may cause vomiting.
Reply:Hangover prevention must take place prior to and during an alcoholic endeavor!

Here is my foolproof strategy when I drink.

The day of outing you should eat easy to digest yet filling meals. Ie. baked potato, pasta, rice, bread. This will be easy on your liver and stomach but will make nice cushion for the alcohol.

Next, and most important, as you've heard a trillion times... drink lots of water. And, I mean lots. If you aren't watching calories, drink a few gatorades. Then your organs and veins will be properly hydrated and ready to go!

What you drink is perhaps the most important thing! I stick to a very highly distilled vodka because it is much easier for the liver to metabolize thus not making you sick. My drink of choice is Kettle One with water tall glass on ice with a few olives. This will be easier for your body to metabolize than some sugar laden fru-fru drink and will also provide you with much needed water!

I don't recommed pills before or after the outing. Advil, tylenol, etc are only one more foreign and difficult thing for your liver to process.

Day after... lots of water and the cure all for EVERYTHING THAT AILS YOU.... Hot %26amp; Sour Soup from the local chinese joint.

CHEERS!
Reply:I agree with the Milk Thistle suggestion, and I would add a multivitamin at the same time. Have those beforehand, drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fat and oil, and you should be much better off the next day.

However, it's also true that there's nothing to completely prevent hangovers if you get really bombed, especially if you do it a lot. Your body will pay the price, even if it's more of a gradual thing.
Reply:From my understanding, when you pass out after a night of drinking that's exactly what you do, pass out. Your body isn't getting any real rest, it more like you're unconscious. So what i do to prevent hangovers is drink a few glasses of water during my night of drinking and when i get home i take a pain reliever/sleeping aid like advil P.M. and drink a huge glass of water. This way you fall asleep instead of being unconscious. I wake up feeling great no matter how much i drank.
Reply:Excess alcohol causes deficiencies. I don't care if its prickly pear or cranberry juice, your replacement of vital B vitamins can have a dramatic affect on your recovery and a dramatic affect on your craving of alcohol as well.

They have to be whole food B2, B6, and B12...Not synthetic, thus the saying about whole fruit juice (like prickly pear) helping... Is for a reason. It is providing natural vitamin/minerals that your body can recognize and your cells can utilize. Centrum just clogs public porta potties.

The prevention is not to mix alcohol. People don't realize that mixing a beer with a glass of wine can cause a hangover. You drink beer, you stick with beer... You drink wine, you stick with wine.

For example, if you were drinking wine and then you went for a cocktail, then that'll really mess you up the next day.

Stay away from high sugar drinks. Like white wine, corn syrup based beers, Quervo Gold is 90% cain sugar (drink Agave based tequila which is expensive but no hangover).

Clean alcohols that are high end do not necessarily cause hangovers.

Prevention is just simply taking care of yourself and being aware of the kind of alcohol you prefer. If you prefer cheap sugar stuff, then I'd be thinking you are suspect of alcoholism because you want to get your sugar intake up to feel right again. Alcoholics like to self medicate like this because they feel low in energy from a spiral of vitamin/mineral deficiencies all the time.
Reply:There is one thing to protect you from getting drunk and to save you from followed hangover but if I tell you I have to kill you. It is a very special preparation made and used by spooks in various countries. So if you can't join Mosad or CIA

try to find a friend who works for them.
Reply:I have never herd of that as a prevention, the only sure fire prevention for a hangover is to drink heaps of water before you go to bed. A hangover is simply being very Dehydrated so drink 1 cup of water for every 1 standard drink you have and you will be fine. if you forget to drink water fix yourself up in the morning by cracking open another can, always makes me feel better if i don't get round to the water.
