Out of curiousity, I'm wondering what is most productive in preventing the spread of the flu...washing your hands with soap/water, or using the hand sanitizer that "kills 99.99% of germs". I know using them both throughout the day would probably be the best, but before cooking for example, would it be better to use the hand sanitizer and kill the germs, or does soap/water work just as well?
Flu Prevention - Soap and Water or Hand Sanitizer?
soap and water work better. but remember its not how many times you wash your hands, its when you wash your hands. make sure you wash after using the bathroom, right before you eat. never touch your eyes, mouth, ears, nose...hope that helps
Reply:Both. Use them both A LOT. But soap and water actually works better, because sanitizers lie. Yeah, they kill germs, but they're made so much of water they can't possible kill as many as they say.
Reply:If you're fastidious in washing, soap and water works just as well as alcohol-based sanitizers and others. It's just that most people aren't all that concientious about hand-washing.
Reply:Any time you come in contact with something someone else has touched you are at risk. You should carry hand sanitizer when you are at work or some place you can't go wash your hands. antibacterial hand soap.and hand sanitizer will both do the job. When you are cooking you can use latex gloves. Make sure you wash high traffic areas in the home like doorknobs and the keyboard of the computer. You can use the Lysol spray to disinfect objects you can't wash. When in public use the hand sanitizer after using doorknobs and stuff. Hope this helps.
Reply:The best form of Flu protection is an internal disinfectant called; "The New Silver Solution." This stuff kills bad bacteria but leaves the good bacteria intact, so it enhances your own immune system.
It is a 'New Technology' - currently being stockpiled by the US Military against bio-terrorism, that kills all sorts of pathogenic bacteria in 4 different ways, while remaining completely non-toxic to humans and animals.
I have personally given this solution to many people who have had Flu and Colds. In every case, symptoms were resolved within 36-48 hours and the person felt well again.
It is patented and tested by the leading laboratories in each of the pathogenic fields it addresses. Visit the site and look under 'Silver Solution Info' - There's also a link to the patent and an audio and video presentation on the site.

Reply:Both are great. Antimicrobial soap and water handwash after bathroom breaks, before cooking, and when hands are visibly dirty, sanitizer as needed.

Reply:Scrubbing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water is preferable to hand sanitizers. Hand sanitizers can be used when soap and water is not available and the hands are not visibly dirty.
