Snake prevention?

i been have snake comes and go around my yard. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it. Products?

Snake prevention?
This is what a professional says about products to deter snakes: "The effectiveness of snake repellents is often a hotly contested topic, but in my experience and in the experience of knowledgeable biologists and herpetologists, there is really no effective snake repellent. It's probably better to leave snakes alone than to poison the environment by littering the ground with the various snake deterrents sold on the market." http://www.wildlife-removal.com/snake.ht...

Depending on where you live, killing snakes may be illegal, especially if you do not know what species it is. It could be protected under your state's laws.

If you have not already done so, clean up your yard. Remove brush piles, wood piles and rock piles that the snakes may hide in. Keep your grass cut. Don't leave trash around. Do not leave garbage around, or anything else that could attract mice and rats and other animals that the snakes may feed on. Do not have birdhouses or birdfeeders on your property.

If all this does not work, think about having a professional come and take care of the problem for you. The above website has a list of Nuisance Wildlife Control Professionals, nationwide, that you can check out.
Reply:you can buy "Snake Away" at your local Lowe's store

I also heard planting a couple of marigolds would help encourage snakes to find other places for habitat, good luck!
Reply:you can discourage them from coming to your place by getting rid of things that might provide sheleter to the snake such as any bushes, unused tyres, logs piled up etc, where the snake can hide.

you can try getting rid of rats and mice that might be attracting the snakes.

look around your yard for any burrows or holes in the ground and cover them up.

and dont forget to check your door and windows for any cracks or holes through which the snake can get inside the house.

and yes marigold plants and also basil plants are said to have some effect on snakes.

if your neighbour's garden is untended, you can talk to them about the snake and request them to tend to their yard so the snakes dont breed there.

if you do these things the snake ll probably stop coming because there is no place for it to hide from its predators and no food for it to eat.

good luck !
Reply:There is nothing guarantied to keep snakes away from your yard or house. The only sure thing to do is to kill them. I would prefer you don't. Learn to live with them, tolerate an occasional visit. If you have little children try to make sure the kids leave the snake alone. Snakes are not gonna bother people. Just think of it as one of Natures wonders come to visit.
Reply:While Jim is correct that there is no guaranteed way to get rid of a snake without killing it, godonlyknows is also correct that removing possible habitats for the snake will encourage it to move on. If the snake is not venomous, however, I'd recommend keeping it around as it is a great way to get rid of pest animals like mice and rats. If you would like to describe the snake to me, I can identify it for you.
Reply:give space to everybody!
