E-mail hacking prevention?

It seems very easy to find out how to hack an e-mail account. What would your recommendations be to others for preventing this from happening?

E-mail hacking prevention?
use a common sense.

don't list your email address to people/website you don't know and/or don't trust. neither publish your IP address%26lt;of course if you know%26gt;
Reply:PGP encryption.. give out your public key to folks.. have them encrypt the message adn send it to you.. from there only you can decrypt it with your private key.
Reply:Keep your password private and make it hard to guess. Don't give your password to anyone, not even your family or boyfriend/girlfriend.
Reply:Make a very secure secret answer, and a secure password.
Reply:It is really easy. Especially gmail... My advice use hard passwords with uppercase and lowercase with atleast 1 number thats not a common word or phrase. Make your security question something that is completely not obvious like "Your mother maiden name" and the answer is Steel01 or something less obvious :-)
Reply:1. Make sure to take advantage of all security options...USE THE SECRET QUESTIONS

Dont make simple answerrs either....

2. Also when logging in to the site always check the URL and make sure you are entering the information to the right site...

3. dont send emails to strangers who ask you to.

4. never make you email id close to or anywhere near your real name or information...
Reply:You will need a good security scaner. Like CA Security Center.
