We're creating our own state in my government class, and we're supposed to create some things that will prevent some crisises.(For example, we wrote if unemployment rate increases above 15% then new deals will be made by senate, then so forth to prevent further increasement in rate). I was wondering what our nation does to prevent some crisises(natural disasters, depression, etc)?
Crisis prevention in Consititution?
how about a vote of no-confidence in incompetent leadership?
Reply:What kind of lugnut is teaching this class, if "it" doesn't understand, or, doesn't want you to know what has already been done to prevent a disaster like the depression?
Natural disasters can happen anytime, anywhere, and there is almost nothing a government can do to "prevent" that. The only thing it can do is deal with the aftermath.
Maybe you should try questioning some authority.
Reply:15% unemployment? Would depend on whether that state were mostly made up of corporations or small buisness, also what caused the unemployment would be useful. If the state consisted of mostly small buisnesses, then it would most likely be economically independent while a state consisting of corporations would be economically dependent.
What is the ultimate goal of the state?

Hospital Prevention HELP!!!?
So my little girls Dr. said she has croup I am trying to prevent her being hospitalized so I bought a humidifier but it doesnt mist is that ok? it blows cool air and the water in tank noticibally disappears but no mist is mist the key should I get another one??
Hospital Prevention HELP!!!?
Hi, you really don't need to see the mist, if the water seems to be lowering in the humidifier. You are keeping the door closed to the room that you are in, aren't you?
If you don't think that her lungs aren't getting enough moisture, go into the bathroom, close the door and run the shower hot. That always works great for me when I am having asthma trouble.
Hope she feels better soon!!!
Reply:Worst advice given to my mom when I had a bad cough was a humidifier...but I was allergic to mold and a humidifier can be a breeding ground for it.
But, if you're needing mist in a hurry to see...don't forget the sage ways of our elders...
Put a pan full of water on the stove, bring it to a boil, and then lower it to a simmer and let the water burn off...it will "mist" per se...just don't forget to check the pan to prevent burn up.
Reply:Go into the bathroom and turn the shower on with the water being as hot as it can. Just sit in the bathroom for a while. The steam from the hot water will help out.

Blister prevention, my arches?
I am training for my first half marathon and seem to be taking the skin off my foot on the inside of my arches. I have wide flat feet, wouldn't you know it! I changed my shoe, got some ascis ones and was advised to get a bigger shoe (wider) that suposedly suited my low arches. Sounded good, but as I ramp up the miles I still am taking the skin off my arches.
Should I shell out on a pair of fancy running socks as well!! or strap up my foot.
I thought this would be painfull, but wasn't prepared for taking the skin off my arches after just 6 miles!!!
Blister prevention, my arches?
A couple of things you can try without spending lots of money.
1. turn your socks inside out
2. use a little vaseline on your foot before running
3. buy cheap gel insoles
Sometimes you can't stop blisters but usually it is caused by ill fitting shoes or mechanical problems running.
If you have a flat foot you should look with a shoe with a straight shape (look on the sole(bottom)) of the shoe and one with a board last( a really stiff shoe, try to bend it in half and it should be stiff).
hope this helps.
Reply:You will have to build up (thicken) the skin on your feet for any shoe to be comfortable. Some runners have this curse and some do not.
I, unfortunately am of the cursed variety. I initially had a problem, and found a wonderful product called molefoam. You can get it at the pharmacy or any store that has a special section for insoles and things like that. It's flesh-colored and layered foam with adhesive on the back. You can cut it to fit in whatever area you are having problem with (you will see what I am talking about when you look at it). It's a godsend, and really helps. I strapped my foot and used it until I built up even more skin to travel on.
I hope this helps, and good luck with the marathon!
Reply:blisters are caused by your skin rubbing against the sock or shoe. its usually because your shoes are too loose.
I would go to a store that specializes in running shoes, and let them look at your feet and stride. bring in your old shoes, too. they can look at the wear on them to analyze your stride.
and dont wear cotton socks! when they get wet from sweat, they rub and cause blisters.
Reply:Blisters on the arches are by no means normal. You shoudn't have to "toughen up" the arches like you have to with toes. Definitely shell out for running socks. Especially when you are running as far as you are, you need a nylon or similar sock. Wright socks are great because they have two layers: one sticks to your foot while the other moves with the shoe, most socks only have the one layer that moves with the shoe causing friction and blisters. BUT, your shoes aren't right for you. Anytime you have blisters on your arches, you need a better fitting shoe. What you said about getting a wider shoe sounds good, but what you have may have too high of an arch support or the shoe is too big and the arch support hits in the wrong place. Either way your shoe isn't right. If you got your new pair at a running store you should be able to take it back and get something else. If you didn't get them at a running store then you definitely need to go to one. You don't realize how much you don't know until you visit a running store.
Good luck with the blisters and with the marathon!
Reply:It is possible that it is your shoes...but you also could have a skin condition. I literally can't build up calluses on my feet or hands because of a genetic thing-so no matter what I do, I get blisters. (Also, my dermatologist told me to never become a park ranger because of it...darn it, she crushed my dreams! :) I'm joking about the dream part) However, it's more likely that it's your shoes. I'd go talk to someone at a running store-be sure and bring your shoes, and wear socks you normally run in. They can help determine if it really is your shoes doing this. However, if it's not your shoes, I'd go see a dermatologist about them, and see if s/he can give you anything to help. Good luck with your half marathon!
Reply:Your shoes are to loose!! Go to a running shoe store that specializes in running only!! They have a special machines that you walk on and checks your feet. Also get some special socks that may help blisters!! It is worth the money!!

Drug prevention in toilets?
is there any special lighting you can have to prevent people taking cocain in public loos
ive heard there is a special blue lighting that stops you being able to see the cocain
is this true and whats the lighting called?
Drug prevention in toilets?
There is no lighting that stops you seeing cocaine, apart from the lights being turned off! :-)
What you are thinking of is blue lightbulbs placed in toilets. This stops you being able to see your veins, and so it makes it very hard to inject drugs into yourself.
Have a look at the story below, which shows the lengths a pub owner goes to to stop people using cocaine, ie removing the toilet lids, and spraying WD40 on the top of the cisterns. The cocaine is absorbed by the WD40 turning it into a sticky congealed mess which then can't be snorted.
Reply:I have heard of this lighting.
But jsut because you cant see it, people will still be able to sniff it up!!!!!
If someone wants to do it, they'll find a way round anything, and theres not a thing you can do about it.
Reply:the way to do it is to have no flat surfaces, if you can't do that, then make the flat surfaces rough instead of smooth. another good way is to spray wd40 on the toilet cistern so their coke will just stick to it and be no good.
Reply:there are special blue lamps for that, but as far as I know it's so you can't see your veins, so it would be more for heroin addicts or other people that use drug intravenously. No idea what they are called. Google toilet and blue light.
Reply:Havent heard this but some of our local pubs have artexed the back shelf/cistern and removed the flat cover lid so there is nowhere for punters to "rack" up a line.
You can also smear vaseline on these surfaces!
Reply:there is a light that stops you injecting as the lights make it difficult to see the veins. they have it in our local sainsbury
Reply:There are special blue lights, which mean that you can't see your veins, stopping people from injecting. I think that's probably what you mean.
Reply:Sainsburys Supermarket in York has blue fluorescent ( UV) lighting in the male toilets (" restrooms" US).
This is supposed to make it difficult for intravenous drug users to find a vein as it masks the dark red colour. Perhaps users could tell us whether this works as this doesn't prevent vein marking prior to entering the toilet .

Stubble prevention.?
Yes, I am a guy. No, I am not gay. I am only 13, and yet I already have a moustache (spelling). I prefer not having any facial hair. My grandmother, (who is crazy) is making me shave it. How do I prevent stubble and just keep clean? If this is common knowledge, don't mock me, I'm new to this.
Stubble prevention.?
I think you'll just have to shave it everyday. Unless you want to get it waxed professionally...
Reply:hmm lets see
you know what
i like stubble
keep it
Reply:I'm sure you can scrounge up five dollars for some shaving cream and a decent razor.
If you can't, that is quite a terrible financial situation you are in.
If you seriously can't get five dollars or around that, save up a bunch of change from around a parking lot or something.
I don't think you can shave using 'home remedies' unless you use a razor blade, but gosh, ouch.
Reply:If your grandmother wants you to shave it, you should ask her if she'll get you a razor of your own or let you share hers.

Cancer prevention or treatment?
could cancer be treated or prevented by inserting an inactive cell of a scecific type of cancer eg lung cancer to prevent the future formation of it? just a theory please correctif wrong
Cancer prevention or treatment?
You are referring to a vaccine of sorts against cancer. Unfortunately, based on our current understanding of cancer this is not possible.
The modus operandi of our immune system is to seperate all cells into "self" and "non-self". So our immune system will recognise bacterial cells as "non-self" and mount an immune response against them.
Cancer cells however are derived from one's own cells- to our immune system they generally look identical to "self", and therefore no immune response is mounted.
Immunisation presents another problem. Given that every cancer originates from our own cells, any vaccine would also have to be derived from one's own cells. Furthermore, the nature of cancer is that a cell starts off normal, and acquires damage. More and more damage over time leaves a cell that just doesn't know its role anymore, and that doesn't know when to stop growing. Although there are several points in a cell's genome that are more likely to be the site of damage, there is no one genetic characteristic for all cancers, therefore not only would every vaccine have to be tailor made, but a vaccine would have to be made for every subtype of cancer- and there are thousands!
There are however, vaccines against the cause of cancer. One such vaccine is the new HPV vaccine for cervical cancer. In this case, it has been found that Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible for over 98% of cervical cancers. In particular, two subtypes of HPV, 16 and 18, are responsible for approximately 70% of cancers. This virus chronically infects the cells of the cervix and the immune system often is not able to clear the infection, or by the time it does, it is too late.
The virus integrates its own DNA into the cervical cell's DNA, leaving behind stretches of DNA that tell the cell to replicate unchecked. This optimises the conditions for cancer. So the new vaccine teaches the immune system how to combat HPV 16 and 18 infections BEFORE women are ever infected, therefore the viral DNA is not integrated into the host DNA, thereby preventing cervical cancer.
You had a good idea, and at the end of the day it wasn't the answer! But we need people like you to continue learning and asking questions- one day you might just come up with the right answer! Hope that helps!
Aj : )
Reply:If you're talking about a vaccine against cancer, e.g. showing an inactive cancer cell to the person that would create an immunological response in the case of a real cancer, it has been tried. I don't know of it in lung cancer, but it's been tried in melanoma (bad skin cancer). Although there have been results, they are inconclusive. As I know, no "vaccine" against cancer per se is approved right now.
A notable exception is HPV vaccine against uterine cervix cancer, which is well established and efficacious. But it's not a vaccine against the cancer, it is against the virus (HPV) that causes the cancer! You could say the same about hepatitis B vaccine that would prevent hepatitis and then some cases of cirrhosis and cancer of the liver.
In conclusion, the best way to PREVENT cancer is to eat well, not smoke, exercise, and not expose yourself to risk factors (like heavy drinking which can lead to cirrhosis of the liver and cancer).
Don't forget that 75% of cancers are directly linked and caused by modifiable risk factors (the best example being smoking cigarette)

Is prevention of vehicular pollution better than cure?
Please give me this answer now as i am iit is very urgent tome.
Is prevention of vehicular pollution better than cure?
Yes! That is why we should kill off one third of the world's population and sterilise another third. Any other methods are hopelessly inadequate and do not get to the root of the problem - too many retarded people infesting the planet.
Reply:Prevention of anything is better than having to find a cure for whatever problems it caused.. So yes of course. Cure, I will assume you mean trying to cure illness that is result of pollution? Or do you mean try to cure the pollution problem after it has already gotten out of hand? Either way, prevention is always the best..

Pregnancy prevention?
If I take birth control (yaz), and he uses a condom with spermacide, what are the statistics of me getting pregnant?
Links please?
Pregnancy prevention?
Very very very small. Birth control typically has a 97-99% effectiveness with perfect use. A condom has a 98% effectiveness with perfect use, an 82-90% effectiveness with typical use. Failure rates for spermicide are 18% for perfect use and 29% with typical use.
You are being very cautious- kudos to you!
Reply:Living large, are we?
Reply:Probably less than 1%
Oral sex is even better.
Reply:No need to send you links.....If you take your pills as directed and use condom than you are 100% protected!!
Reply:I don't have links but birth control and comdoms aren't enough!
Reply:There are WAY to many variables in that scenario for any statistics to apply for sure. Even if the stats say .00007 percent, that's only for absolutely flawless use, not typical use.
Reply:i would say 99.9% chance of NOT getting pregnant being as condoms 98% and birth control pills as long as u remember to take em 99% so keep it up and u will be fine

HPV prevention in males?
so a few months ago me and my girlfriend broke up to see other people
anyways she was with this guy for a few months and decided to sleep with him, and she got HPV, she has a form that causes cancer, she has pre-cancerous cells right now
anyways, she broke up with him after he started wanting children, which she does not want right now in life
she came back to me, we are in love, i never lost my love for her, but anyways
i told her that in this relationship, i do not need sex, i can love without sex, she understands, but sh wants to know because she thinks it will be torture on my life to not have sex (she cant figure out that lust and love are different, but i love her so... yea)
she wants to know how to prevent spreding it to me if we do end up having sex one day, yes i know condoms help 70% of the time, but i want to know if there are any other measures out there to prevent me from contracting this
thanks

that should protect you - Gardasil is what you want. you can sign up for the study or doctors can opt to give it to other people "off license" if they wish yes they can.....
Reply:well you do know that HPV causes cancer in harldy any men, right? You do know that most males are have HPV and dont even know it? You may already have it, and not be showing any symptoms. I don't see what the big deal is, it seems like not that big of a problem, especially if you love someone. Or are you just afraid to commit and using HPV as an excuse not to get close to her?
Reply:Firstly, Gardasil is only for women under 26. Research is currently being done for an HPV vaccine for men.
HPV is very easily transmitted, and condoms are one of your only options if intercourse is what you're wanting. There are a variety of other sexual activities that are safer. You can always have oral sex (still using a condom and/or dental dam).
Always, when STIs are a concern, talk to your doctor.
Reply:At present HPV vaccine is available only for women aged below 26 years. Medical research is being made to discover vaccine for men and also for women (above 26 years of age).
Reply:the reason condoms are not 100% at preventing the spread of this disease, is the virus lives on the skin of the abdomen, the thighs and pelvic regions. even if you just showered, the viurs is there. they haven't invented a body condom yet, so you are at risk. although the incidence is small, it IS possible for men to get "urethral condolyma"---cancer in the urethra. i'd suggest talking to an STD specialist about protecting yourself should you choose to remain with her.

The most common are 6,11,16, and 18. Those account for 90% of HPV cases. Experts estimate that that over 40 million americans have HPV, many of them never have any symptoms whatsoever.

Suicide prevention: websites, useful info, quotes (to be contd.)?
Hi :-) ! Just thought this was an idea to help people... and you can gain points :-) ! Am feeling chronically suicidal (due to BPD or other way round LOL) but not always acute. These sites have helped me and might help someone else as well... would be very nice if some or other references were added.
Not to be forgotten though that it is best to go and seek help from a mental health professional if you feel at risk. If you don't dare to or if something else hinders you, this might help you out... but please get help as soon as possible!
Thanks a lot and Please take good care of yourselves!

Parvo prevention?
I just lost two puppies to parvo. it was very sad watching them die infront of my eyes. Is there anything I can do to my yard to prevent my adopting future dogs from catching thiis ravaging disease?
Parvo prevention?
Parvo is common when cats live around the area of your dogs or passing through. They poop on the yard and the dog licks it and gets Parvo and passes it along to its puppies through the milk.
Sine the mother is big already it doesn't affect her, she is immune from it, but not the puppies.
The best remedy is to get a garden spray bottle and walk aorund the yard and spray pure bleach around the area and that kills the Parvo virus.
Now when the puppies get Parvo you can tell quickly because the Mother will not clean up after them anymore and their poop runs.
Seperate your puppies from the Mother and from that point on you need to hand feed your puppies because Momma has contaminated milk and do not let her near those puppies until you get them Parvo shots.
How to save a puppy from Parvo is very simple if you get to them in time. Get a teaspoon of Clorox Bleach and put it down their throat. They will gag and cough up all kinds of white slime within a few hours those puppies will cry because they are hungry and all the virus is destroyed. They get to feeling better and will chow down...lol
Then get you so similac milk like we use for our newborns at any store and get a baby bottle with a nipple and Cut a hole in the nipple big enogh for them to get a good swallow each time they suck. Those puppies will suck it all out in a matter of minutes.
Feed each puppy three times a day and in a few days your puppies poop will start coming out hard again and they recover very quickly.
I saved 15 Redbone Puupies when their Momma got into some Parvo virus and her milk was ruined. We had to take all the puppies away and we only lost one that was the runt of the litter. The rest of them survived thanks to Clorox Home remedy for Parvo.
Any questions about your puupies just write me and I will be glad to help you out. I raised Redbones for 15 years. I know allot of home remedies to help you out.
Reply:Please don't follow these instructions!!!You will kill your puppies. Parvo is preventable with immunizations!! Bleach is helpful to clean the virus off hard surfaces and your hands, etc. But please do not pour bleach down any animals throat. Report It
Reply:Bleach or diesel and set it on fire. No I'm not kidding. I've dealt a lot with parvo and its not fun. It comes from a virus in their feces. So cleaning that up will help it from coming back.
Reply:Vaccinate!!!! This vaccine is considered a routine annual care for all dogs, along with the mandatory rabies vaccine. Don't you take your dogs to the vet at all?
However, once you adopt a dog that already has parvo it is very difficult to treat plus poses serious threat to your neighbors pets - highly contagious!
Reply:Before getting another dog you ened to disinfect everywhere the infected dogs were. They have sprays that are made to kill the parvo virus. Do some research.
Reply:Get a weed sprayer, fill it with bleach and bleach your yard.
This will kill the Parvo virus.
In the future, should you ever have a dog with Parvo, there's no need to watch your dog die.
At the first signs of Parvo (vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink)
Go to the grocery store, purchase goats milk, and soft tofu.
Purchase a syringe remove the needle.
Mix the goats milk with the tofu to make a thin liquid.
Pull the fluid into the syringe.
Place the syringe in the dogs mouth between his cheek and teeth.
Slowly depress the syringe.
DO NOT PLACE IT IN THE DOGS THROAT (pouring liquids directly down a dogs throat can cause it to become aspirated in other words suffocate/drown)
Although the dog is ill, and usually not eating or drinking on it's own, when the milk mixture runs into the dogs mouth they will still swallow. A lot of the mixture will run out, but rest easy, he is getting some of it down although it might not look like it. The dog will try to get away, hold him steady and just do it.
Do not give him too much at a time. Filling his tummy will just make it come back up.
Feed him this way every couple of hours.
It usually takes about 3 days to make it through.
Dehydration is what kills the animal. By doing this you keep the animal hydrated and fed. I have yet to see a dog lost to Parvo when an owner puts this to practice.
Try to keep vaccinations up to date to avoid this in the future. There are some types of Parvo that we don't have vaccinations for yet, so use this if you run into one of those. Best of luck to you.

Rust Prevention?
Should I pay for a company to rust proof my vehicle or is it now worth it?
Rust Prevention?
I wouldn't know. Cars don't rust in Arizona. I think a company called "ziebart tidy car" does rust proofing. I have seen some back east cars out here that have holes drilled into the body, spray this stuff in it and plug the holes with these little yellow plugs.
Reply:Only if you live up Nawth, and have to put up with Salted roads in the winter, then its worth it..........Nuf Said
Reply:If it's new and not already corroding , yes. If not you have to get the old rust off before you rust proof. But rust proofing in wintery states will help a lot..
Reply:On newer vehicle they say its your choice but not always needed. If you live in the north like say Michigan it wouldn't hurt to do it. It may increase your cars value. In south like Florida, cars still rust but no where near like northern states. salt is the main thing that rusts out cars anymore. if you get a paint chip is where it usually starts, it needs to be fixed or it can rust or if you have a hole in the exterior of your car for whatever reason. hope that helps.

Heartworm prevention - proheart?
is it true it got recalled in the USA due to deaths? my dog is on the proheart tablets, will he die?
i know proheart also has injection ones, not available in australia, is that what caused the deaths? or the tablets?
Heartworm prevention - proheart?
Our pets our members of our family and they are loyal and ever so dependent on us for their wellbeing.
I believe that a monthly prevention is better than a 6 month or 12 month injection as that much of prevention is an overload on your pets system. I use a product called Nuheart on my two dogs and get it from www.nuheart.com It is very good and very well priced. Just make sure you let them know what kind of dog you have and what your pet weighs.
Take care :)
Reply:It was the Proheart6 shot that was recalled due to the many deaths.
The shot was given once every six months.
Nothing has been said about the pill form, but I would just switch to a different one if I was you, just to be safe.

Autism prevention is there is key factor involved in non-familial cases?
Autism is not a new disorder, what are the risk factors?
Autism prevention is there is key factor involved in non-familial cases?
Recent studies suggest a link between the age of the father at conception and an increased risk for the child having autism. The older the man, the higher risk. Much like the risk of women of advanced maternal age having a child with Down Syndrome.
It is still being studied.
Reply:You know, I've noticed that the increase of watching television in our society (using it as a baby sitter) has coincided with an increase in autism.
Sure, doctors will claim "Oh, it wasn't a known diagnosable thing before now", but come on. What are the chances they'd acknowledge that America's biggest industry is responsible for damaging so many kids?
It can't be good for kids development to watch a flickering t.v. image so many hours a day.
Reply:Hi, Several inconclusive studies show that MMR shots may have something to do with Autism. Children seem fine to some parents until they have that shot, then they go down hill. It would be wise to avoid these shots if one can but if not all together have the Measles, Mumps and Rubella seperated and not done in one injection. This seems to have been one of key factors. The increase of Autism also probably has to do with it being more accurately diagnosed. Also, I think the age of parents is a factor..as the answer above stated, even more possibly the father. Hope this helps..
Reply:Some people cannot help it, as you imply. But I've read people who do not take care of their allergies and allergy symptoms can have mild autism.
Reply:1. Family history, of course, is #1
2. A large percentage of engineers, mathemeticians, and musicians in the immediate family
3. Family history of allergies, both seasonal and food allergies, but particularly dairy allergies
4. Family history of gastrointestinal issues, such as chronic diarrhea or constipation
5. For some children: vaccines, such as the MMR or the DTaP
6. Mother taking vaccines during pregnancy or breastfeeding, particularly the MMR
7. Possibly, having had several ear infections

Mold prevention?
Is there any way to prevent mold from growing on my bathroom ceiling? Is there anything when cleaning it off, I can put on to help? My bf tries getting me to shower with the door open, to not have such a build up of moisture, but I get too cold.
Mold prevention?
bleach. it really works. wear gloves and something to protect your eyes/head from drips. soak a scrub brush (or any sponge on a stick kind of thing) in bleach and dab it onto the problem area.
Reply:Most good paint store sell a mold resistant paint.I have it in my three bathrooms and it works great.
Reply:there are mold blocking cleaners that you can wash the ceiling with and maybe some mold resistant primer and paint. if worst comes to worst you can put a plastic type covering over your current ceiling. Get some of the plastic type stuff like in your shower and apply to your ceiling after you clean the mold off and paint the area with mold resistant cleaner
Kilz is one brand of mold resistant primer.
You can also try one of those Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower cleaners it has a solution that does real well on the shower if it wouod reach your ceiling.
Reply:How can I prevent mildew in my bathroom?
By far the most important mildew control remedy is to increase the ventilation in the bathroom. Leave the bathroom door open after you shower or bathe, and use the bathroom exhaust fan. If you live in an older home without an exhaust fan, install one, and be sure it is vented to the outside, or you may transfer your mildew problem to the attic!
Existing mildew on most surfaces can be killed with a mixture of 50% household chlorine bleach with 50% water. Use a hand sprayer to apply it to the surface, allow it to remain for a few minutes or until the blackish, dirty-looking mildew color disappears and then rinse thoroughly with water. If the surface is covered with soap scum, the mildew might be more difficult to kill. In that case, perform a thorough cleaning first with either TSP, a TSP equivalent or a commercial soap scum remover. Then use a mildew wash, even if it "looks" as though the mildew is all gone.
There are commercial cleaners that combine bleach with a cleaning product. I have found them to generally be less effective at killing the mildew so my advice is to keep your killin' and cleanin' separate!
Unfortunately, the mildew will return eventually unless you seal the walls by proper repainting. Mildew attack increases the porosity of the paint film, making reinfestation a certainty. Applying the proper paints after killing the mildew will assure longer-term mildew resistance.
By the numbers
Kill all mildew using bleach, as described above. Wash all walls with a prepainting detergent such as Soilax. If the ceiling is a spray texture ceiling, do not attempt to wash it or the texture will come off. If the texture is mildewed but still firmly attached to the ceiling, spray the bleach solution, let it dry thoroughly, and then continue to the next step, priming.
Let the surfaces dry thoroughly and then prime the affected walls completely with one coat of an oil based, fast drying primer such as Kilz.
After the primer is dry, finish painting the walls with two coats using a semigloss or eggshell finish latex paint, or a specially formulated bathroom/kitchen paint. Because of its limited washability, flat wall or ceiling paint is not recommended in bathrooms, especially where it will be directly exposed to water such as around the top of a tub or shower enclosure.
The paint you choose must be treated with a mildewcide which you can purchase at the paint store. Do yourself a favor... have your paint store add the mildewcide for you before shaking the can... it is difficult to evenly mix the mildewcide by hand! The exception would be bathroom and kitchen paints which normally have a mildewcide in their formula, making extra additives are unnecessary.
Mildewed caulk and grout in tubs and showers often resist bleach and other cleaners. Why? Because the mildew is growing inside the caulk or grout ! The only way to fully eliminate it is to remove the old caulk and replace it with a mildew-resistant caulk designed for bathrooms. Ditto for the grout, except you should replace it with a latex-fortified grout. These newer grouts are much less porous than old style cement grouts and more strongly resist mildew!

Cures/prevention of 'shin splints'?
i have shin splints from playing football, we currently train on astroturf and i believe the hard ground contributed to this. can anyone advise me how to overcome this problem without missing out on much football?
Cures/prevention of 'shin splints'?
I am a gymnast with the same problem. All the advice that everyone said was to rest and stop practicing, but I didn't and my shins are still feeling better. You need to ice them before and after practice. If you don't get around to doing it before that is ok but you MUST do it after. Plus it numbs the pain away, which helps a lot! You need to masagase the area right next to the bone. This will be extremely painful but you have to do it to help it heal and make it feel better. Also this will sound stupid but put your heal on the ground and do toe taps with the balls of you feet and toes. After a while you will feel a slite ache in you muscles (which is good) because you are strengthening them. This is not the point at which you should stop the toe taps keep pushing yourself to do more. Also this will sound stupid too, but write the alphebet with your ankle. (This stretches out your shins.) Make sure that you stretch your shins out before you practice. Take pain meds. like Ibuprofen for pain and swelling. Also I have shin braces that I wear at every practice. I don't think that they seem to help much but if you wrap your shins in ace wrap that helps too. You can also tape them. When I am having a really bad shin day where it hurts just when I move my leg, I will tape them put the ace wrap on over the tape and then put my shin braces over that. I bought my shin braces at Walgreens so maybe you can pick up some if you want. They cost around $15 a piece. I hope this helps and I hope your shins feel better!
Reply:Pounding the ground will always subject your legs and feet to a variety of ailments.
Your best bet would be to get to a specialty sports shoe store, as the correct footwear is essential to healthy legs and feet!
Reply:The only thing that will get rid of them is REST. If you continue to exercise on shin splints you have a very high risk of a stress fracture which would mean 12 weeks in a plaster cast. When you return to training after the rest, make sure you have good fitting sports shoes/trainers on. Yes the hard ground has contributed to it so maybe thats something you could bring up with your trainer.

Disease prevention related to 2nd law of thermodynamics...?
I am writing a paper about how to prevent epidemic disease from spreading globally. I want to apply the 2nd law of thermodynamics to this but don't understand it well enough to apply it (yet!).Where can I find information about this?
Am I on the right track or way off base?
Websites, books, textbooks...any info will help.
Disease prevention related to 2nd law of thermodynamics...?
It really doesn't apply, and if it did, it would work against you.

Thumbsucking prevention ideas?!!!!?
My 9 year old boy still sucks his thumb and I've tried just about everything under the sun to get him to stop. I've tried coating his fingernail with all kinds of nasty stuff, I've tried wrapping his thumb with tape, I've made him wear a glove....I've even trried to bribe him with money or a PS3. I've even embarrassed him in front of some relatives and friends hoping that he will get the hint. I've already had to pay one time for him to have major dental surgery to fix all of his cavities and I told him that if he needs additional procedures done later on in life because of his habit, he's gonna have to come up with the money himself because it's ALL preventable and I refuse to pay for it again. Am I being too hard? Anyone have any original ideas about what I can do to make him stop?
Thumbsucking prevention ideas?!!!!?
my sister is 13 and still sucks hers
in my own experience i would leave them alone
i know!! its gross and iritating but for them its a habit that is not easily undone, and putting more pressure on kids only makes it worse. yes my sister will have braces on for the next few years. she hates it but soon she will learn what she needs to do - and she will see she needs to do it for her! not anyone else.
i think you are being to hard on him
hes just a kid and you cant through money into the mix it just makes then feel like crap about them selves and then theyve got to deal with self esteem issues the rest of their life
relax and let life continue
this issue will run its course in due time
Reply:cut it off
Reply:wow, you sound insufferable - no wonder he still sucks his thumb, it's probably his escape
Reply:hmm it sounds like you've tried everything. there realy is not much you can do at all. Just ignore it, he will loose the habit as he get older.
Reply:Thumb sucking has nothing to do with cavaties, that's from poor parenting by not making him take care of his teeth! Same reason he still sucks his thumb!!
Reply:Keep him busy....busy hands are very difficult to get to the mouth so he can suck his thumb.
Have him help you in the kitchen...work with him on crafts get him anything that will keep him busy enough that he doesn't think about sucking his thumb.
I was a thumb sucker til I was about 13...I discovered things that kept my hands busy and since then haven't though about it til this question. By the way I never had to get braces or anything my teeth are fine
Reply:Leave him alone. Thumbsucking is a way to comfort yourself. It does not cause cavities, it does not cause buck teeth. I sucked my thumb for 13 years due to an abusive, overbearing father. Don't bug him about it, he will quit when he no longer needs to, or when he moves on to things like cigarettes. The more you push him, the more he will need something to comfort himself.
Reply:Maybe, though your intentions are good, they are backfiring. Maybe he is continue to do it do displease you OR maybe you are causing him a great deal of stress in the matter and he sucks his thumb to relieve that stress! Why don't you lay off it for a while or just be a little more understanding and see what happens? I can tell that you are terribly frustrated, but your efforts haven't helped any as you said.
Reply:Use duck tape.. put it on EVERY NIGHT!!! (most time they suck it) and my sister had this problem and it went away!!!
Reply:well you can put viniger on whomevers thumb and they will realize that it tasts bad so then they will stop sucking it!
Reply:We finally broke down with my daughter and had a dental appliance put in her mouth to help her break the habit. It didn't hurt her, just broke the suction and "took the fun out of it". The local orthodontist installed a bar behind the upper teeth that would push up to the palate if the thumb was placed in the mouth--like I said, it didn't hurt, but just put a barrier between the thumb and the roof of the mouth that made the sensation different and less pleasant. It also helped align the teeth and keep them from spreading from the thumbsucking behavior. It cost about $600 about 6-7 years ago, and she wore it for a little over a year. The dentist said she needed to wear it that long to completely break the habit and keep it from returning. Though he made us no promises that it would keep her from needing braces later, it did just that and ended up saving us the thousands that would have cost, so it was well worth the investment!
If he is 9, you might try reasoning with him first and offering him some wonderful toy or other incentive that would cost about the same as the appliance and see if it's worth it to him to quit on his own %26amp; spend that $$ on something he really wants instead. You would have to drag out the reward long enough to make sure he isn't just playing you to get his toy %26amp; then goes right back to the behavior--for us, she needed the physical help to overcome the habit!
Reply:Humm that is a problem especially at 9 years old. And everything you try isn't working. I think he is using this as a tool of control over you, with underlying issues. Might try getting him some psychological help. Counseling could be the ticket. I see this as a control issue. All kids go thru it at some point or another. You dont say if he only does this at night as a sleeping aid or if it is a habit during the day too. Embarrasing him wont help the issue. Bribery wont help either. I would think counseling is the only thing here that can help you. Something can be wrong that he isn't telling you.
Reply:you should be embarrassed about how you let him get away with it for so long....to get him to stop that habit you needed to take action when he was first starting to do that behavior....now you should continue to embarrase him but infront of total stangers...ppl he is not comfortable with....
Reply:is he old enough to understand that sucking his thumb will cause jaw and tooth placement damage? if so you should try telling him, i had a friend when i was younger who couldnt get over sucking her thumb, she stopped because she was afraid she wouold have to get braces. its worth a try. also, im not sure if you're this kind of parent but you could make consequences for him sucking it. try it!
Reply:Consult a dental about a fixed appliance to prevent thumb sucking..
don't know why people insist on answering when they only want to hurtful....
We moms must stick together !!!..
good luck

Pregnancy prevention??
my mom says i can't have the pill and i have been having sex, i'm afraid one of these days the rubber will rip or something will go wrong and i will get pregnant, i have been using the condoms which you can buy on street corners in machines... are there any brands which i can try to make sure the condom doesn't rip or anything that will stop me from getting pregnant apart from the pill. please help.
best answer to anyone that helps
Pregnancy prevention??
Sadly, nothing is 100%. All condoms have failures every now and again, which is why it's always best to use two methods.
Your mom doesn't control whether or not you can be on the Pill, YOU do. If you live in the US or Canada you can go to a Planned Parenthood and get birth control and women's health care (pap smears, STD tests, etc) for free if you are under 18. Many work on a sliding scale if you are over 18.
If you are comfortable enough with your body (mainly putting a finger or two inside of you) and REALLY concerned about what your mom would thing, you may want to look into the NuvaRing. It's a ring inserted in your vagina near the cervix (you do not feel it) for 3 weeks at a time. Continue to use condoms (as, like I said, two methods really are best) even if you do go on it.
I would also recommend talking to your mom again about it. If she knows you're having sex remind her it's not her body, her life, or her consequences if you end up pregnant. Then state that you do want to go on the Pill to be responsible and protect yourself.
Reply:condoms??? abstinence??
Reply:If you are the legal age for sex, you may be able to talk to your doctor or local family planning clinic about preventative measures.
But if you are under age, you are risking a lot more.
The fact that you're asking this question and you mention your 'Mom' makes me think that you are not old enough.
Reply:use a different condom for every sexual activity your in
Reply:yes cross your legs. very cheap and effective
Reply:why is your mum saying you cant go on the pill... Talk to your mum, ask her why and tell her what you think she may not like it but will understand why you want to take it..
All comdoms are ot 100%. but if you cant go on the pill just be very careful.
Reply:this may sound corny but the only 100% prevention is abstinence. Just a word of advice don't EVER double condoms thinking they will work twice as good. that actually increases the chances of the condoms breaking.
Your best bet would be to talk to your mother about it more...is she aware you are already sexually active?
Reply:No offense, but your Mom is both naive and stupid too. Check your local listings in the phone book for Planned Parenthood... as long as you're 16 (depending upon what state you live in), they can hook you up with a birth control prescription.
Condoms have an alarmingly high failure rate. What you need to do is to avoid sex within five to seven days of ovulation (when you can get pregnant). The downside is that's when you'll also (naturally), be the most horny, but if you don't want to deal with an unwanted pregnancy, Mama knows best!
Reply:try ABSTINENCE... that's the best pregnancy prevention... you'l have no worries if you use that...
Reply:If you are so young, you need your mothers permission to take the pill, try ABSTINENCE. Best birth control on the market. Besides, anything you can buy on strret corners is probably illegal.
Reply:Depending on your age, you may be able to get the Pill without your mothers consent! bwhaha!
A few of my friends did this...just go to the local doctors with a friend, or relative, it shouldnt be too expensive either.
And good for you for thinking about your actions! Your mother should be happy she has a responsible daughter, although its probably really hard for her to accept youre growing up (probably a little faster than she anticipated). So give your mother time and good luck :)
Reply:You should be able to get the pill without your parents consent. If you don't want them to find out though, you will have to pay for it in full and go to 'Planned Parenthood' to get it. Your regular doctor may do it, but they may charge you for the visit too. If you feel you need to be on birth control, tell your mom that. If you are old enough to have sex, you are old enough to talk to your mom about it. I know you don't like that answer, but would you rather talk to her about getting on the pill, or how you are going to take care of a baby? You can also try to complain of horrible menstrual cramps. Doctors love to put you on birth control to regulate it. It might work. Of course my cramps were really bad, like I'd spend all day curled up on the bathroom floor napping til I had to puke of take a hot bath. My body couldn't handle the walk to my bed and back. Good luck! Oh and if the condom does break, look into the morning after pill. Also read a little about ovulation. Find out when you're ovulating, and avoid sex then. It's not definite it won't happen at another time, but your chances are better of not getting pregnant if you are aware of your most likely times to get pregnant.
Reply:Durex condoms. I use the extra thin ones, they are good and have never failed on me.
Reply:Firstly well done for using protection, try asking ur mom how she would feel if u became pregnant because she wont let u go on the pill, this might shock her into letting u go on the pill, good luck
Reply:Sit down and talk to your mom. Tell her your choosing to have sex and you want to get on the pill. I really dont think she wants you to get pregnant. If anything go to your local health clinic. Talk to your school counselor. Depending on your laws and your school. You maybe able to get free BC. I would go to the store and get condoms..not the ones in the machine. Other than that you should consider not having sex. Unless you are married and in love. How old are you?
Reply:If you are the legal age to have sex, i suggest you make a trip to your local pharmacy or parenting clinic and ask to be put on the pill. They should give you the pill for free. Hide it from your mom. It sounds sneaky but its much much better than the consequences of getting pregnant. Im sure your mother would much rather you were on the pill than pregnant.
Reply:You need to sit down and have a heart to heart with your mom. Tell her that you're an intelligent, mature, beautiful young lady. Let her know that youre growing up, and that you need to start making intelligent decisions. Let her know that you need to schedule an appointment with the doctor to discuss birth control options, as you don't want to make her a grandma just yet. (That should get her attention)
If you cannot do that, then I advise you to seek out your nearest planned parenthood.
Use the condom with the pill to increase your chances of not becoming pregnant.
Remember, there's nothing that is 100 percent. You can still get pregnant on the pill. If you seriously are not ready for the possibility of a child, then you might want to rethink having sex, and wait until a time when you and your partner are more prepared for the unexpected.
I truly wish you the best of luck. Seriously, you should convince your mom that you know what's best for your body, especially if you are having sex.
Reply:You don;t say your age, but if your mom won't let you have the pill, you must be pretty young. but if your going to,play like a adult, you have to prepare yourself for it, and not depend on your boyfriend, if you do get pregnant, he will most likely move on to the next girl while your stuck to deal with everything else. once you sign up for it, you can't quit...EVER!.. If your young, most of the fathers don't hang around for long, I could go on forever, but that's not your question, so to answer yours, I would talk to your mom again, not giving you protection, will not stop you from having sex. Ask her to take you to your doctor, be honest, and let him or her help you decide the best method for you, (there are many to choose from) and really, don't ever take any chances, if you don't have anything to use, scream NO! it only takes one time and its not fair to anyone when a baby has a baby!!especially the newborn baby. good luck, show your mom your question and answers, she;s afraid for you, we sometimes like to pretend the problem isn't there, that's because we are all human, oh and also, make him use two condoms, if the first one breaks, the second one might catch the sperm, be careful it doest"t slip off though, just be careful anyhow sweetie!
Reply:You can look in the phone book or call information and find your city's Health Department. They have a womens section where based on your age and income you can get birth control for free. You don't need your mom, and they don't give you a prescription you have to fill either. They will do a pap smear and a pregnancy test and then determine what kind of birth control is best for you. Then they will give you a few months supply right there in the office. Believe me, if you are going to be sexually active, you cannot rely just on condoms. I did, and I got pregnant when I was 17. So look into your options.

Wrinkle prevention?
I am almost 30, and while my face has no visible wrinkles, i want to stay looking young. Are there any creams that work for combination skin? A lot of products tend to break me out...
Most creams I see in the stores are for people that want to "reduce the appearance of wrinkles"...I want to prevent them, but I also don't want to put harsh chemicals on my face that is going to cause me to age.
what about creme de la mer? is it all its hyped up to be? I would never dream of spending that kind of money but if it was that great i would certainly think about it.
Advice ladies my age and older?

Reply:The best advice is don't sunbathe. Don't even use tanning booths. I'm 48, but I've always had young looking skin. That's probably because it was always oily. If your skin is naturally oily, you might not wrinkle for a long time. If it's dry, use any moisturizer your skin can tolerate. If it's too heavy, then mix it with a little warm water, then rinse it off (like a conditioner).
I don't have any wrinkles! Yay! Now gray hair, that's another story....
Reply:I'm not your age but I know the #1 way to prevent preventable wrinkles. It's sunscreen. Use SPF 30 every day. Your skin wrinkles due to a break down of collagen in the skin (DEEP in the skin). There are two ways the collagen breaks down: 1)genetics/aging and 2)sun damage. I have friends who are younger than you who are already getting bad wrinkles. In fact my one friend has more wrinkles than his older brother and consequently LOOKS older! The reason is because my friend regularly uses a tanning bad (UV rays from a light bulb) and his older brother slathers on the sun screen and gets a spray tan (tinted moisturizers). So bulk up on the SPF baby!
Reply:Skin is composed of 3 layers - Epidermis, Dermis, Epidermo-Derman junction and sub cutaneous tissue.
Wrinkles are caused due to :
Old age // Rapid weight loss // lower immunity against infections // UVA %26amp; UVB rays // wind, heat and chemicals // smoking...
Treatment :
Daily moisturizing creams, including those with hydroxy acids as well as sunscreen (SPF 15 or greater).
It is difficult to repair deeply furrowed skin that appears with photoaging, but thinner wrinkles, dark spots, and rough skin may be improved with the use of topical medications. Over the counter creams containing retinol or glycolic acid may help or aggressive prescription acid creams or peels, or, prescribe stronger retinoids such as Retin A (tretinoin) or Tazorac (tazarotene.)
Botox (botulinum toxin) may soften the appearance of wrinkles caused by squinting or grimacing. Collagen or hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Hyalaform, Captique), may be injected under wrinkles or folds to elevate them.
Lasers may also be used to minimize wrinkles. Non-ablative (or “lunchtime”) lasers do not break the skin and have minimal side effects, but, are also not very effective. More aggressive lasers such as the carbon dioxide laser may remove deeper wrinkles but require several weeks of healing after a treatment.
Finally, for excessively deep wrinkles or folds, a facelift may be used. This surgical procedure is expensive and invasive, but, may also produce excellent results.
I could write more but if u need more detailed answer do write to me...
Reply:I'm 27 and the best thing I do is use sunscreen everyday. Yea, it can be a pain but the number one cause of premature again is sun damage. When you're 40 it'll be well worth it!
I've tried a slue of facial creams and have sensitive skin, you may want to try a 'serum' because those a lighter than a heavy cream and will be less apt to make you break out. Sometimes it's just trial and error. If you're concerned you can always visit a dermatologist and get specific recommendations.
Reply:Rastafarian's answer is great, I think you should learn a lot from that answer. Anyway, my three recommended products you should use are: SPF, hydroxy acids (AHA/BHA) and retinoid.
SPF, because UV rays cause aging. Hydroxy acids because they exfoliate the dead skin cells to reveal smoother skin underneath. And retinoids are the most popular anti-aging medication, and the retinoid product that's most popular is Green Cream. Check it out in www.greencream.com :)
Oh and nothing beats educating yourself as much as possible about different products and their respective ingredients and uses so you will gradually know what works for your skin.
Reply:I am 29 and I know what you mean about wanting to stay young I have tried every product out there pratically from Loreal, maybelline, avon, Estee lauder, Clinique, Mac, lancome, etc, until someone introduced me to Arbonne products and so far they are great..the good thing about Arboone is there are no chemicals and harsh ingredients that can damage your skin ...they are made from natural resources..... I had a reaction to the NYC bronser so it left little red spots on my face and I am putting their Conditioning Oil and it is helping heal my skin. If you are not 30 yet than i would recommend using the Intelligence Line and you can also use the Anti-Aging Line I am using a few of their items.

Loss prevention with a company called costco?
anyone out there ever work for this company?
Loss prevention with a company called costco?
Costco certainly has a better reputation all 'round than Wal-Mart. There is less likelihood of shrinkage when customers and employees like the firm they shop at and work for.
The trick, in loss prevention, is to stop theft before it happens, not to punish it afterwards and lose customers. Keep the drug addicts and the professionals out, while removing temptation for those of weak morality and/or self-discipline.
I went to Wal-Mart once only, bought nothing and have never been back. I visit Costco when I can, which is not often. It reminds me of AAFES, which is OK: there is that bit of exclusivity and "membership".
Not what you asked for but perhaps useful.
Reply:They would probably have such a role. Have you gone to their website?
Reply:go to the forums at www.retailworker.com. There is a Costco employee forum there.

Flea Prevention?
Where do the fleas come from and how can i prevent them. i want my animals to be healthy what can i do to prevent my dogs from getting fleas?
Flea Prevention?
FRONTLINE applied per directions once a month......... nuff said
Reply:keep them treated with a prescription flea repellent such as advantage frontline etc.
if you are not into chemicals, having a house without rugs will prevent 90% of flea infestations, and bathing her frequently in a citrus based shampoo will probably help the other 10%
Reply:Frontline Plus seems to be the best. It's usually about $35-40 for 3 months and you can buy it at the pet store or through the vet.
Reply:A natural non-toxic way is to feed them brewers yeast and garlic.
Reply:Get Advantage.. you have to go to the vet office to get it and there are some animal shelters that sell it for WAY less... dont get the flea prevention from walmart or anything cuz it doesnt work like Advantage... Fleas come from other animals and bushes, If your dogs go for walks and enter a yard that has fleas then your pup will bring them home... they can also live in your carpet!! Advantage kills the fleas within an hour and stops the fleas from biting in 15 min!!! It is AWESOME and it also repels ticks!! and do NOT give them garlic!!!
Reply:Frontline and Advantax are the BEST. When I got my kittens I put it on them once and never saw another flea. It kills the fleas on them and the eggs. Also, if there are still fleas on your carpet or furniture, when they jump on your pet for a bite to eat it kills them. It is a wonderful product. I only had to use it once on my cats because they are indoor pets. If your dogs go outside, which I'm assuming they do, you should use it once a month. It's 40 or 50 dollars for a box of 3 but is the only thing that will really work for fleas. Don't get any other brand.
Reply:They come from the outside. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat and NO FLEAS. I use Rx For Fleas Plus ( Fleabusters.). It goes on your carpet, their bedding etc. I only have to use it twice a year. BUT you must also make sure you put it UNDER all your furniture where the fleas like to hide in the dark and lay eggs. I have been using this product for about 5 yrs. now and nothing else and as I said before I have no problem with fleas.
Reply:Fleas are everywhere. In the grass, on other animals, hiding in carpets, etc... There are several things you can do. You can use a perscription flea preventative and your vet can recommend the best one for your dog. Some dogs react badly to these or the owners just prefer a more natural solution. For these circumstances, adding Apple Cider Vinegar to your dogs' water can help. You want about 1/3 cup per gallon. You MUST introduce this slowly or your pets may stop drinking their water. Start with a teaspoon per gallon and work up to the full amount when your dogs are ready. It's also good for mosquitoes. You can also use Diatomaceous Earth (DE) which is fossilized plankton. You want the food grade, NOT the pool grade. You dust this into the dogs' coats daily if you see fleas. You can also dust your carpets, furniture, and pet bedding with it. You can dust the yard as well (this will not hurt the wildlife except for insects). For flea control, dust the dog once a week if you have alot of fleas and every 2-4 weeks if fleas aren't a big problem for you. It scratches the exoskeleton and the flea dies of dehydration. It will not hurt your dog and can actually be used as a wormer if your dog cannot use traditional wormers. For worming, 1-2 tablespoons daily for two weeks or until the worms are gone, whichever is longer.
I have provided a link for the DE as well as one for natural remedies for various problems including pests.
I forgot to mention, if you live in the country and don't mind caring for some extra critters, guinea fowl happen to LOVE eating fleas and ticks. This is what my parents use due to the large number of fleas and ticks in the area. They went from having fleas and ticks on the animals all the time to having none at all without any flea treatment. Unfortunately, I live in a city and can't have any so I use the natural methods I mentioned.
Reply:They get fleas from being outside where other animals with fleas have been. There are several useful products such as Frontline that will eliminate the problem.
Reply:advantage works best on just fleas!!! if they seem like they are getting immuned to it you can switch to frontline. which also repels ticks ( which can cause problems also if too many of them bit your dog) but whatever you do don't use harts drops from walmart.i work at a vets office and we have had several animals come in that the owners put harts drops on them and they went into convulsions and had seizures to the point that we had to give the morphine and it ended up costing these pet owners a lot of money. advantage is around $50 for a 6 months supply and frontline ranges from$30 to $48 depending on the size of your animal
Reply:The best and easiest way to keep fleas off your dog is feed your dog Nutro Ultra. This dog food is a holistic dog food and works wonders for everything. It has a natural garlic in it and this is a natural repellent to fleas. I have 4 dogs and I feed them all Nutro ultra and of course like all dogs should be they are house dogs, I have no flea problems what so ever. In the hottest and most common months for Fleas I usually use Frontline plus. Normally I only put it on once or twice through the summer sometimes only once. My dogs never get fleas. Try it and you will see a huge difference in the fleas, and the dogs coat and many other things too. It truely is a great dog food. A little pricey compared to most but it is worth it.
Fleas come from the outside, so you should keep your pet inside most of the time.

Cold prevention?
my entire family has a cold except for me!!! Help, I've been washing my hands all the time, I sprayed disinfectant on the key board and mouse door knobs before I use them, what else can I do?
Cold prevention?
Boost your immune system with Vitamin C (variety of formats including smoothies, juice, and vitamins).
Suck on Zinc lozenges. They coat your throat preventing virus from sticking.
Zycam up the nose (same concept as above but in nose and prevents lung ingestion).
Gargle with warm water to wash away possible infiltrators.
Reply:Have you tried ColdMD?
Reply:Stay away from them.
Haha, i know it sounds rather odd but try to have as little contact with them as possible until their colds clear up.
Reply:You can try boosting your immune system with a product like Zycam. Good luck!
Reply:Resist touching your nose, eyes and mouth with your hands. Turning the heat up in the house will shorten the life of virus particles on surfaces and the higher nasal temperature slows the replication of both the rhino virus and corona viruses.
But you are exposed so much it may be you will not get it, or the incubation period in underway.
Reply:Just be careful not to have their germs spread to you. Vitamin C helps prevent colds (like those Vitamin C drops)..and just keeping a healthy daily routine - exercise, eat well, SLEEP
Reply:STOP BREATHING................YOU'RE BREATHING ALL THE GERMS IN SO YOU ARE PROBABLY NEXT...
Reply:Visualize that you are healthy, avoid sugar, and boost up your immune system by taking vitamin C and Oil of Oregano, Go on a liquid vegetable juice diet for a day. See source for more information. Washing hands and cleaning door knobs is excellent...and do not worry, enjoy your life and avoid stress.
Reply:Airborne, its a preventative tablet you put in your water and it helps boost your immune system. Also I take Vitamin B, C and Echinacea to keep my system up to par. Dont skip any days though because I skipped one and now I have a slight cold I am trying to shake. Good Luck!!!!!

Pregnancy prevention?
My boyfriend and I are in a serious, committed relationship, and we're both old enough (I'm 25, he's 31). We have sex, and I'm on the pill. My question is this: how can I best use the pill to prevent pregnancy? Is it best to take it in the morning, at what time, etc? Also, when do most women ovulate? I want to take extra precautions when I'm ovulating because I do not want to get pregnant? I know that the only 100 percent fool-proof way to not get pregnant is to not have sex, but that's not an option. I really hate going month to month wondering if my period is going to be late and if I'm pregnant. What are the best ways to prevent pregnancy with the pill?
Pregnancy prevention?
I am not sure if it matters what time of day you take it just that you take it the same time everyday. there is a site www.yourdays.com that will track your avulation if you have regular periods. just adjust the calendar to avoid pregnancy and it will show you the days not to have sex or to take extra precautions. Good for you for being so responsible.
Reply:wow....you're 25 and on the pill and you don't know this stuff??
you're def. gonna get pregnant.
Reply:The time of day you take the pill has no bearing on anything. Just that you take it everyday your supposed to consistantly.
Doctor should have went over all of this with you when you were perscribed the pills.
Reply:Thats so weird!
well if you want to be more carefuly how about using a condom too!
Reply:the best time of day to take it depends on when you are most likely to remember ( example, putting it on your nightstand to remember to do it before bed) but it isnt as effective if you dont take it AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY. so pick a time and stick to it. also all women ovulate at differnet times its impossible to predict so you might just want to use condoms all the time
Reply:Take it every single day at the same time. And count 14-17 days after your period.
Reply:The time has nothing to do with the efficiency of the pill.
And the time women ovulate is different in each women.
I know this is going to sound really geeky, but you should
read the instructions that come with the pill. Sometimes
they tell you not to take certain over-the-counter medicines
or drink caffeine etc. If you want extra protection go talk
to the doctor who put you on the pill and get other
methods to not get pregnant. You can use the sponge,
ring, and other stuff that they have.
Reply:Depends what pill you are on. If combined pill take every day but doesn't matter what time. If it's the mini pill this has to be taken at roughly the same time every day. I think within about a 2 hour window. If this is the pill you are on I would put it somewhere you won't forget i.e next to your toothbrush.
Women normally ovulate 14 days after tthe first day of your period but can be ANY time. To be extra safe always take your pill and use a condom too.
Reply:I used those dissolvable vaginal films
Reply:If you take the pill it's like 99% effective, so you won't get pregnant. But there's still that 1% chance... most likely you won't get pregnant.
Most women ovulate from the 12-17 days after their period.
We use the natural way, so no sex or extra precautions for me from days10-19 days because of how long sperm can survive in the body. Very stressful month to month, but I'm not on anything... just natural... playing russian roulette.
Also if ask your doc for a presciption of the morning after pill to have on file as needed. If you mess up on your pills go get one in an emergency (up to 5days after sex) and that should ensure you. Also have him wear condoms that will help.
Having 2 options is much better than 1 method for birth control believe me, I have the morning after and the natural method cause I can't remember to take a pill daily
As my mother told me.... pill, panties... take your pill when you change underwear, same time everyday!
Reply:take it at the same time, every day, and never skip a pill. it really doesn't matter if you choose the morning, afternoon, or evening. my friend set her cell phone alarm to go off at 2 p.m. everyday, and as soon as it beeps, she takes the pill. kind of a handy way to remember. if you want to take extra precaution around the time you're ovulating, ask that your boyfriend wear condoms for those 4 or 5 days. most women ovulate fourteen days after the FIRST day of their period. but if you google ovulation calendars, a million will come up. you just enter the date of your last period and average length of your cycle, and they tell you your most fertile time of the month.
Reply:use a condom for one and for two anyone who has been on the pill knows you take them at the sametime everyday DUH!havent you taken sex ed by the way your 25yrs old your a grown adult use common sense
Reply:Try asking your doctor about the depoprovera shot ( depo shot ) you get one injection every three months. your periods eventually stop ( no periods yeah!) just think of the money you'll save on pads/tampons. It is more effective than the pill and no day to day hassle ( i mean come on 4 shots a year cant beat that) Also they save you money in the long run the depo is 55-75 dollars. and remember no pads. the depo does have side effects like EVERY medication, like wieght gain. The depo tricks your body into thinking its pregnant and you get food cravings (hence the stopped periods) but as long as you can control the cravings, you wont gain a lb. I have been taking the depo for five years and have never gotten pregnant once ( well i stopped the injections once when trying to have one ) but never had one when I didnt whant one. lol. I have heard of too many women and girls getting pregnant one the pill. you miss it one time and thats all it takes. WELL HOPE THIS HELPED!
Reply:I just bet, your blonde %26amp; have an IQ of 47 ;-)
Good luck
Reply:I agree with some of the people who have suggested using other forms of birth control. I tried using the pill for a few months but I had trouble remembering to take it at the same time everyday, (and taking at the SAME time everyday is the best way to take it and make it work the best). If you can remember to take it everyday at the same time, then you should keep using it. BUT there are MANY other forms of birth control out there that are SO much more easy like : depo shot (i took it for about two years), the ring (my best friend swears by it), the sponge (it is all another friend will use) and many many others that maybe would work better for you and keep you from worriying so much! Good luck!
